We’ve had a Dell delay!

That darn deliveryman! Haha! Just kidding, totally kidding! Actually, my poor dad has been quite ill. He had a fever that just didn’t want to leave him alone! So he is going to come visit next Friday and deliver said Dell.

I was getting a little worried about him, since he lives alone. And so I asked him if he had a thermometer. I just don’t think of a single man living alone as a person who would have a thermometer. Heck – I didn’t even have one until I had kids.

When I asked him, though, he asked me why. I told him that if his fever were too high, he’d need to go to the hospital.

His reply?

“Nah, I’ll just go to the crematorium.”

Just like that. Just flat. Just a fact.

ROFL 10
I swear! That man cracks me up!!!

Anyhoo – he’ll be hear next weekend cracking my ass up and giving me the finest machine I’ve ever owned!

DUDE! I’m gettin’ a Dell!

Don’t you just miss those commercials? I loved that guy – he was so funny! And I’d love to hear him say ‘his thing’ to me right now! You know why? Because….

DUDE! I’m gettin’ a Dell!

Ok, yes, it’s true – I already have a Dell. That, my friends, is beside the point. You see, on Friday of this week, my sweet Daddy is driving 800 miles to bring me a brand-spanking new Dell laptop that he has purchased for me!

Spoiled much? Grin 2 Yeah, ok, my dad totally freaking ROCKS!! You Rock

It’s kind of a long, drawn-out story of how this all came about, but, suffice it to say I was supposed to be getting a Dell laptop hand-me-down. And the winds of change blew into town, as they are often known to do, and here I sit – the spoiled brat I’ve always been. Hey! I may be a spoiled brat – but, I’m one grateful spoiled brat, that’s for sure!

Thank You 2 Daddy!!

Now, I have no idea how much
Dell Memory this new bad boy has, I really don’t quite ‘get’ all the in’s and out’s of memory. All of that jargon cornfuses me. It funny, it frustrates Mark to no end, because, he has explained all of that memory crap to me over and over again and I just DO NOT GET IT! It drives him crazy because I LIVE on my computer, I make my living on the computer, all of my little friends are in that ‘little box on my desk’! Haha – that last remark is in reference to a very telling graphic a friend (in Canada!) left on my myspace once! I need to post that here one day! It made me laugh and laugh and laugh!

Who knows? Maybe when I post it, I’ll be posting it from my new notebook! Woohoo!

I’m getting a new laptop

I am so excited! My dad just bought a new computer for himself, and guess who is getting his old laptop? Yep, that would be me! I have been wanting a laptop for a very long time! There are just so many instances when I want to get OUT of this office and continue to do work. Sometimes it is a beautiful day and the kids are playing out front and I would like to go out there and watch them and just hang out with them. And sometimes when the kids are at school and I would like to just go sit outside with Puppy. There was a day not too long ago when Mark and Sammie and I were sitting on the balcony and I wished that I had a laptop then, so that I could sit out there with them and still work. And there are a lot of times that I am not feeling well, and would rather work from the couch or my bed. Any way you slice it, I am just totally excited about this! Parents can be so cool sometimes, you know?

800 miles from my computer

I must admit it was really hard to leave my computer! I cannot wait for the day I have a laptop and a travelling internet connection, whatever the heck you call those things! That will be a grand day indeed! I have hopped around here from computer to computer, trying to blog, keep up with email, keep up with my peeps and my Punkymoms – and it’s been a bit hectic! I was a bit concerned, because I knew I would want to download a few things on my brother’s machine so that I could work while we are here. He is actually still using IE, oh the horror! So of course, I wanted to download Firefox, which he should’ve done looong ago! And then, of course, you gotta get all the cool plugins for it. You just can’t work without this stuff, people! And then I wanted to download the ChaCha search software so that I could continue my search guide job while here, as well. But I was concerned about how much IBM memory he had available, but, to my surprise, he said it was fine and that I could download whatever I needed! I was so excited!! So for the times that I’ve been at my brother’s house, I have been able to continue to work. I have spent a lot of time at my mother’s house, though, and her internet connection died a couple days after I got here – it was a very sad day!

Microsoft Surface Computing – Awesome!

Move over Jane Jetson, there’s room for more techno-savvy housewives in this solar system! Like me!

Dude! This is just awesome, I mean, totally awesome! Anybody got a spare $5,000-$10,000 they could loan me?

The part where he takes the picture of his colleague …and then sends it right to the computer …and then sends it right to the phone – just totally and completely BLOWS ME AWAY!

Mark and computer memory yesterday

So first Mark calls me yesterday while he was still at work, trying to find out how much memory this computer has left. Unfortunately, I forgot where to look that up, so I was unable to help him. He and his brother wanted to download some software for their GPS’s, some map software. And so he wanted to know if we actually had enough computer memory left to do that before his brother drove all the way out here. Since I didn’t know where to look for it (what kind of computer nerd am I, anyway? I’ve failed at geekdom! Dangit!) they came out here, anyway, to see if they could get the software loaded up onto the computer and then to their GPS’s. My GPS doesn’t have a memory card, I think he said, so I wouldn’t be able to use it. And, as it turned out, he wasn’t able to for his, either, but, I can’t remember why. Personally, I don’t really want that software, anyway, because when my mom and I took my dad’s GPS with us to New York, on which he’d loaded New York maps, it was no help at all! We used it, or attempted to use it, for the first day and a half, and then gave up. All of the maps were wrong in it. It was like a drunk had drawn the maps! Hopefully, that type of software works better now, as that was seven years ago! I actually went to bed before finding out if they even got it onto my brother-in-law’s GPS.

The other Mark-computer-memory news yesterday was that he came in with a circular from WalMart, in which was a suh-weet, new computer listed for only $600!! He was so excited and really wants to buy it. The sale only goes until May 12th, though, so we’ll see. He says it has way more memory than this ‘ol beast that I’m on now!! It would be nice – and it would definitely be nice to get off of Windows ME. Can you say ‘cavewoman‘?

Getting my computer healthy, too

A large part of my getting healthy means my also generating an income – getting my financial life healthy. And hopefully helping my husband out with some of the bills. All of what I am doing to make money is on my computer. ‘My’ computer crashed in November – so I have actually been using my sons’ computer since then. I have been squirrelling away some extra funds to get my hard drive fixed, and when I do, I want to get it good and healthy! I will probably get some extra computer memory, and I will most definitely get an external hard drive. I really can’t wait to be back on my own machine, and off of this Windows ME Cave Computer! LOL! It is really all so exciting to me – getting healthy in all aspects of my life – including my computer and my income!

A free CD burner would rock!

There is a great blog that I read daily, by a very cool internet marketer named James D. Brausch – and he has a groovy giveaway going on! (How’s that for some ‘awesome alliteration’?) Winking 5 Anyway, back to James…

He has found himself in possession of too many CD burners – and he would like to share the wealth with his readers – so, he is having a contest. We post our reasons for wanting it – and, the reason he likes best – gets it! Gah-roovy!

Those of you who’ve heard me whining about my computer, could surely answer this one for me easily! I suppose, however, that I better do that myself!

My hard drive crashed in November, and I have since been stuck on my sons’ hard drive (about which they are none too happy!). And although I’m super grateful that it’s kept me connected to all of you and to my online world, in general, it is a dinosaur running Windows ME. Eeks! I think I will scream if I have to read these words too many more times: ‘this program does not support Windows ME’!!

And all of that whining is neither here nor there, the point is that my hard drive did not have a CD burner, so backups were very difficult – and I hope that once I squirrel away the funds for a visit to Dr. Computer, I will be pleasantly surprised to find out that he is able to recover all of my data! You are all welcome to cross your fingers for me on that one!

I am, however, firmly convinced that even if the good doctor is not able to recover my data, that he will be able to restore my machine to a workable state. It could be a pipe dream, I suppose, but, I have a strong feeling about it. Do you think one could be psychically in tune with their own hard drive? Hey! We were really close! It could happen!

And so then, when it does happen, this restoration – I will most definitely need a CD burner, so as not to lose any more precious data, you see?

And that, my friends, is why I would love to receive this wonderful gift of a free external USB CD burner!

I miss my hard drive

My hard drive crashed back in November, and I have since been working on my hubby’s old machine. It was totally AWESOME of him to get me back up and running on the internet – I had begun to go into DT’s!

It is, however, quite an outdated machine – running Windows ME! Can you believe it? Oh my!

I am hoping to save up money to either get my fixed (retrieve the data! please!! *fingers crossed*) and get computer memory upgrade, or to buy a new one. Either way, I think we are going to try and go with an external hard drive – and we are going to learn all ABOUT doing back-ups!!

I just can’t wait for the day, and I know it’s coming – I can feel it – when my computer system is not necessarily the MACK DADDY, but, very sufficient and causes me little to no worries. That will be a fine day, indeed.

I say, What Time Is It?!

Question Mark 3

Ok, peeps – momma needs a little help, here! My silly ol’ puter just doesn’t know what time it is!

And I was reading on another blog that I needed to get the software so that my machine could get the picture….but, where, oh where, is this software?

Am I sounding poetic, or is it just me? heehee

So someone fess up – where’s the software? And why couldn’t I just go into Properties and change it? Would that be bad?
