Two awesome before-school mornings!

I think I woke up in the wrong house twice in a row! Because the house I woke up in contained two happy boys who were ready early and were NOT fighting and were not complaining about anything and were not demanding lunch money they’d forgotten to ask for the night before or any of that! I think they’ve been taken over by aliens!

And you know what? This morning they each actually woke up late! And they were still ready early! It was amazing! Often, if a child is running late, and it looks like they won’t have time for a relaxed breakfast – they’ll have to grab a granola bar and run type of day – they will holler at me, “MOM! Please, can’t you just take me?!” But when it’s already that far into the morning, it is hard to work things out. The three of them take two different buses – one leaving 30 minutes prior to the other. So the second bus rider, which this year is only Sammie, either has to be ready early so they can come with us, or in a really good mood, so they can finish getting ready and get on the bus without my being here. Their dad sleeps late and is not in any way, shape, or form, a morning person. So he’s just in bed – not watching them get on the bus, like their sweet, protective mama does.

So anyway, this morning, Shawn asked me as soon as I got him up – and that really gave me enough time to say, ‘yes’. Actually, I told him ‘maybe’ – if I can get everyone cooperating for that, we’ll do it. And they did. And I did. And it was really rather quite lovely. It’s funny, that now driving them to school is kind of a treat for all of us. In Texas, it was just an everyday occurence. But it gave us some time to be together, laugh, and enjoy each other. It was nice.

I do hope the aliens who’ve inhabited my sons’ bodies don’t leave too soon – I’m enjoying them!

I just flunked out of the internet!

Truly and utterly devastating! I am a complete internet failure!

How do I know? Well, thanks to my friend, Cat, that’s how!

DUDE! I’m gettin’ a Dell!

Don’t you just miss those commercials? I loved that guy – he was so funny! And I’d love to hear him say ‘his thing’ to me right now! You know why? Because….

DUDE! I’m gettin’ a Dell!

Ok, yes, it’s true – I already have a Dell. That, my friends, is beside the point. You see, on Friday of this week, my sweet Daddy is driving 800 miles to bring me a brand-spanking new Dell laptop that he has purchased for me!

Spoiled much? Grin 2 Yeah, ok, my dad totally freaking ROCKS!! You Rock

It’s kind of a long, drawn-out story of how this all came about, but, suffice it to say I was supposed to be getting a Dell laptop hand-me-down. And the winds of change blew into town, as they are often known to do, and here I sit – the spoiled brat I’ve always been. Hey! I may be a spoiled brat – but, I’m one grateful spoiled brat, that’s for sure!

Thank You 2 Daddy!!

Now, I have no idea how much
Dell Memory this new bad boy has, I really don’t quite ‘get’ all the in’s and out’s of memory. All of that jargon cornfuses me. It funny, it frustrates Mark to no end, because, he has explained all of that memory crap to me over and over again and I just DO NOT GET IT! It drives him crazy because I LIVE on my computer, I make my living on the computer, all of my little friends are in that ‘little box on my desk’! Haha – that last remark is in reference to a very telling graphic a friend (in Canada!) left on my myspace once! I need to post that here one day! It made me laugh and laugh and laugh!

Who knows? Maybe when I post it, I’ll be posting it from my new notebook! Woohoo!

Scrapbooking goodies from heaven!

….or, from K8, that is! This really funny and wonderful blogger, K8, is having a contest. In her contest, she is giving away heaps, and I do mean HEAPS, of scrapbooking goodies! I would so love to win this scrapbooking contest!! We all, as bloggers, have a chance, though! All you have to do to enter is put her adorable graphic in your sidebar or post about the contest or put the graphic after every post, if you’re so inclined! I am actually so glad that I stumbled onto this contest (thank you, Laura!) because, I love K8’s blog!! It’s called Three Wild Monkeys and she is so funny! And her sweet little monkeys are completely adorable!

And don’t you just love the graphic?

Teenage boys…ugh! Just kill me now!

Look, if I do so well as to survive this oh-so-wonderful period of my parenting years – I want you to promise me that you’ll award me some fantabulous award, mmmmkay?

They are for sure wearing me out. And I think I just realized this morning that the worst issue you had with your child during their ‘bad toddler’ years (be that 2 or 4 years old, or whenever the nightmare was for you and your sweetpea) is pretty much the same issue you will face as God pumps unGodly amounts of hormones through their sweet litte demonic systems!

I’m serious! The exact same issues that I had with Shawn at age four, (ahh, yes, reminds me of a little bugger in Dallas I know)Winking 2 are the ones I am dealing with ON A DAILY BASIS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Let me give you a good example. This is not quite what happened this morning, but, it’s close enough. You don’t butter his waffles for him – he’s mad at you for not helping him out. You do butter his waffles for him – he’s mad at you for doing it wrong.

I know that none of you, least of all Tracy, can relate to this! Not even in the slightest!Winking 2

So it is just this constant, ‘Mom’s making my life miserable’ thing and it is completely exhausting me! It’s this constant back and forth – you’re supposed to go left, you’re supposed to go right, no, no, no – you’re just doing it WRONG!

Let me tell you, by the time he got his books and left this morning, I was so fed up! I actually slammed the door after they (the boys) went out to wait for their bus.

And then, sappy me, always thinking – something is going to happen to one of us, and the last words we shared were in anger – I went back outside after a few minutes to say goodbye to them again.

I’ll be so glad when we get to that responsible, gentlemanly, deep-voiced, would do anything for his mother, older teenager stage.

Yes, it sounds like a pipe dream – I’m well aware – but, both of my brothers got there. So – it could happen. Rare? Yes, but, it could happen.

Of course, then you know I’ll be crying about how I miss my sweet pre-teens!

Sounds like they came by that ‘can never be pleased’ stuff honestly, eh? Laughing 12

My Nissan Frontier dream…

…has been rekindled. I had to drive my mother-in-law’s truck around for the last two weeks to take care of her horses. It’s a Toyota Tacoma. Granted, that’s not a Nissan, and it is not a stick shift – but, it made me start longing for a four-door Frontier again! I had kind of put that desire on the back burner, so that I could drive a minivan, and carry extra kids around. But two weeks in that truck has lit my Frontier fire again! I used to drive the kids crazy with it – every time we saw a Frontier, I would start singing that old western TV show song. Heck – I can’t even think of it right now! I’ve just always assumed that once the kids were a lot older, then I could switch from the mom-mobile – to the hott mama sexy truck! But now with our car situation being all goofy – me stuck at home – my contractor hubby in my minivan on remodeling jobs – I’m thinking, “Oh – it’s ok, I can get a Frontier now…..yeah, sure I can, it’ll work….” I even put a Frontier module on my LisaMarieMary Squidoo lens today. And …oooh! It came with all these truck accessories, I was just dying to shop! Now if only I could win a lottery!! The funny part is that I want one from the first year that they were made – they changed the body style in the second year and I don’t really like it. But ever since getting behind the wheel of my mother-in-law’s truck, I just keep remembering test-driving that Frontier quite a few years ago – and how much fun it was!

I’ve been taking care of horses and dogs

See these two handsome boys?
They have been taking up a good chunk of my time. My mother-in-law has been ill, so I’ve had to take over care for these two sweet boys and her very demanding Yorkie-poo! And let me just tell you, taking care of these two huge beasts is way easier than the demands placed upon me by this shrimpy monster:Yes, he’s cute. Yes, I love him. And yes, he’s a MAJOR PITA!!!!! His name is Baxter, and he is now, THANK THE HOLY HEAVENS, back in his mother’s care. He and Lucky do seem to enjoy each other’s company, but, he is just too much work for me right now. I am still in charge of the sweet, darling horses, though – at least for a couple more days.

I love taking care of the horses, and I love bonding with them, but, I am exhausted, my house is a wreck, and my poor blogs are neglected. Well, most of them, anyway – I’ve been able to do quite a bit of posting at Hippie Spelunker. That’s the only blog that’s really gotten any love lately, though. I’ve just been too busy and tired to be able to fit in much more. I’ve been so tired, especially with all of this heat and humidity, that I’ve felt like maybe I needed a humidifier! Maybe I could get one like the one my mother-in-law borrowed from my nieces – it’s in the shape of a duck! It’s so cute!!

It is definitely filling my spirit up to be spending so much time with Doc and Leo (the horses), but, right now my focus is my online work and I just really don’t have time for extra animals. It’s kind of heartbreaking, because, for the first time in my life I have constant access to horses – something I’ve dreamed about for a very long time! But I have such incredible drive and passion for my work online right now, that it is overshadowing that long-standing dream of being with horses.

It is a strange place to be, really. I guess the things we want so badly in our lives ‘right now’ really do change. You know those things we long for so dearly, that we never think will change. And it’s not really that it’s changed, even. It’s just that building my brand online comes first right now. And I feel a calm peace about the horses – like my time for that will come. And so I’m going to trust that it shall.

And now – I’ve got to go feed two hungry horses their dinner!

Turn life into a game – get kid back into life

I can’t wait to tell my RPG-head son about this!

“Oh, Shawn! Come here, darling, Momma’s got something to show you!”

Think it will work?

Gimme the coffee and nobody gets hurt!

I need coffee – need it. Yes, it’s true. Mark’s aunt told me the other day that the lumps in my armpits were some kind of cyst disease and that I would have to get off all caffeine for it to go away.

I told her she didn’t know what she was talking about.

Seriously, you’d have to send me to drug rehab to get me off caffeine!

Give me coffee or give me death!

And when you give me free coffee – I love you even that much more!

Web hosting information overload

I have been trying to learn all that I can about web site hosting. I have recently acquired a few new sites, and I have a lot to learn. I have actually had my own hosting for several years, but, that is through a host that is what I call – a major hand-holder! I wouldn’t say I’ve really learned a whole lot of back end information from that account. I actually had it for several years before I even knew what an FTP program was!

But as I wander around the internet, trying to absorb as much information as I can, I find that I am getting lost in a sea of advice. I want to find the information that I actually need – not too technical, not too simple – so that I can do my work online, to the best of my ability.

I found a site today that seems to be offering me just that.
It is called Web Hosting Information and there
is a lot of great – and understandable – advice there.

They have a huge section of reviews, in which they review a ton of different hosting companies. And anyone who visits the site can vote on each company based on features, reliability, support, and price. And there is also a comment section under each review, so that if you have anything you want to share about a particular company, you can.

They have a weekly podcast, on which they answer questions that have come in. They’re very short, so they’re easy to listen to. And underneath each podcast, they list related resource articles. This is a great section! They are a month behind right now, though, so I’m hoping they’ll pick this one back up soon.

My favorite section is the News. They offer daily hosting industry news briefings. So you get a little bit of this or that, in relation to hosting. The last one talked about a Hosting Convention in Las Vegas that’s going on right now.

All in all, I think this is going to be a great site to help educate me about the in’s and out’s of web hosting and I’m glad to have found it!
